Getting real excited for summer.

School has been enlightening and engaging, but I’m ready for some summer reads. My nightstand is brimming with books just begging to be bent open. Among them I’ve got Peter Straub’s Ghost Story, Joe Hill’s Heart-Shaped Box, Hugh Howey’s Wool, the King’s Doctor Sleep, and a boatload of short story collections. Thinking about picking up Ketchum’s The Girl Next Door too, before heading to my retreat in October.

So much good stuff. Got a few books on writing, too. I plan on doing some of that as well. Compiled a list of short stories this week, all the ideas that have been swimming around this semester. Came out to over twenty. It would be cooler than cool (ice cold!) if I got them all done before the end of summer.

I think I just made a commitment of sorts…
